Najaarsconcert van Orkest Intermezzo
Orkest Intermezzo presents Glazunovs Vioolconcert with Emmy Stoms and Rimsky-Korsakovs Scheherazade: a colourful romantic programme.
A colourful and immersive programme
Under the direction of Frank de Groot, Orkest Intermezzo presents a programme this autumn featuring two highlights from the late Romantic repertoire: the violin concerto by Alexander Glazunov and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert opens with Glazunov's Vioolconcert, a lyrical and expressive work in which the violin comes into its own in both a virtuosic and melodic way. Glazunov combines Russian Romanticism with an elegant, symphonic structure. The solo part is performed by violinist Emmy Stoms.
The world of One Thousand and One Nights
After the interval, Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov will be performed, a beloved work from the symphonic repertoire. This four-part suite takes you to the enchanting world of the tales from One Thousand and One Nights. With beautiful melodies, exotic timbres and brilliant orchestration, Rimsky-Korsakov brings the stories of Scheherazade to life. This orchestral work gives all instrument sections the opportunity to shine.
