Musica Extrema - De Mattheus Passie

Theater maker Jan Rot († 22-04-2022) made the Dutch translation in which the story of the evangelist is impressively told. Since his death, former newsreader Noraly Beyer has taken on the role of narrator.

The versatile soprano Claudia Patacca has made her mark on various concert stages at home and abroad. She worked with conductors such as Jaap van Zweden, Ed Spanjaard and Simon Rattle and performed roles such as Donna Anna and Rosalinde. She has also performed Bach's St. Matthew Passion many times. The CD recording and premiere of the St. Matthew Passion, the Dutch translation by Jan Rot, in The Hague in 2006 was also a great experience.

The baritone Joost van Tongeren (1973) focuses on performing classical song, oratorios, opera and also light music. Joost worked as a soloist and ensemble singer for several seasons on the abbreviated version of Bach's St. Matthew Passion, narrated by Edwin Rutten. He has also been making music for more than 20 years with the ensemble Casuquo, which he founded.

The music is provided by the Hague orchestra Musica Extrema, which has undergone remarkable developments since its founding in 2003. The orchestra has performed on virtually all large and small concert stages in the Netherlands, but abroad has also often been introduced to this ensemble.
