Motherland: The Return Of Katinka
Nerdy fantasy theater, physical comedy, and scathing satire in an award-winning trilogy.
A curse reigns in the world of Motherland. Men have a lifespan of 80 years and women of three days. Women exist only to bear children and then die.
But at Katinka's birth, things turn out differently. She does not grow up in a single day, does not age rapidly, and is not already an old woman by day three with dust settling in her wrinkles. No, Katinka has the life path of a man and is destined to break this centuries-old curse.
In The Return of Katinka, she must return to her motherland, the Islands of Treis Méres, to place the magical stone in the Pool of Mitra. But when the king offers her the crown in exchange, she must choose between power and the greater good of her motherland. Can she resist the temptation?
Following the success of Motherland (winner of the Best of Fringe Award 2020) and Motherland II Katinka Strikes Back, theatre maker Jip Smit takes you one last time to a magical world and the quest of heroine Katinka in this final and hilarious installment of the trilogy.
Prior to the performance, you will be comically brought up to speed on everything that has happened so far. Therefore, it is not at all necessary to have seen parts one and two.
