Molukse geschiedenis zelf schrijven

The exhibition 'In Own Words' by Museum Maluku is going on tour to Fenix. Come and capture Moluccan history together. We will look at historical photos, engage in conversation with each other and with artists Ben Manusama and Lucas Silawanebessy.

Moluccan history in Fenix

Fenix and Museum Maluku invite the Rotterdam Moluccan community to write history together. You will engage in a conversation based on historical photographs. These images come from the archive and collection of Museum Maluku. The focus is on the Moluccan community in Rotterdam and the surrounding area.

Women in conversation

Generations exchange stories in a safe, informal setting. In this way, underrepresented Moluccan stories are preserved for future generations. These include images from residential areas such as Schattenberg and Vught. You also see photos of the protests in the 1960s in Scheveningen and at the Binnenhof.

Personal and collective stories

You discover who or what is visible in the images and where they were taken. You also hear the personal and collective stories behind them. Themes such as growing up, education, work, religion, music, food, and daily life form the starting point of the conversations.

Artists have their say

Two well-known artists, Ben Manusama and Lucas Silawanebessy , are guests. You can see their work in the Fenix exhibition *Alle Richtingen* . You will talk with them about visualizing and passing on Dutch-Moluccan history. Museum Maluku collects and preserves all the stories.
