Maurice and I

New Zealand architects Maurice Mahoney and Sir Miles Warren were a duo that complemented each other perfectly. Sir Miles, who managed to win projects with his creative outbursts, and Mahoney as the silent engine who worked out everything down to the last detail. Together they were responsible for brutalist gems on the island, including the Christchurch Town Hall of the Performing Arts. The concert hall is praised by international artists for its acoustic qualities, and the residents of Christchurch experience memorable concerts there. The building suffered some damage in the devastating earthquake of 2011, but was nevertheless put on a demolition list. The now retired duo, supported by a passionate group of residents, must fight to save their beloved complex.
