Man in het Wild

Man in the Wild is a live film concert with unique images of the uninhabited coasts that Jaco Benckhuijsen visited by sea kayak for his book 'Man in the Wild'. Images of black lava beaches, icebergs and a reflective sea pass by on the screen, while two musicians - Jaco Benckhuijsen together with Joost Lijbaart - play a live soundtrack with piano fragments and surging rhythms.

Musician Jaco Benckhuijsen visited the corners of the world with his kayak: he paddled solo along the coasts of Tierra del Fuego, Greenland and the Aleutian Islands. He described these adventures in the well-received book 'Man in the Wild' (De Geus Publishers). And of course it was obvious to translate these experiences into live music in which nature plays the leading role. This music was composed by Jaco himself. For the film footage, he paddled along the coast of Iceland with his camera.

Before the break, Jaco gives a lecture, with many photos, about the sea kayaking trips from his book 'Man in the Wild.' This also allows the public to become acquainted with the practical aspects of these adventures.
