More and more children are dying in the female-run community in the coastal town of Iyi. The population fears that the contact between their leader Mama Efe and the mysterious sea goddess Mami Wata has been disrupted and an uprising is looming. Especially when stranger Jasper washes ashore, who cleverly exploits the unrest in Iyi. It is up to the two very different sisters Prisca and Zinwe to restore harmony. Beautiful black-and-white film adaptation of a folk tale from Nigeria by director Obasi; about the battle of the sexes, tradition versus progress and forced cooperation.
