Magic Circus, the Rotterdams Stadscircus, is racing through Rotterdam neighbourhoods this autumn. Discover the new, modern and surprising show BOLA. Bola is the word for ‘ball’ in many world languages and the title of the 2026 show. Admire artists from countries including Australia, Denmark, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. If you have the balls, you can do a lot in the circus! Antipodists juggle balls with their feet, acrobats balance on large balls. Jugglers amaze with bouncing balls, acrobats fly in splitting globes and on the vertical rope. Magicians make balloons float. There is also strong acrobatics and a workout for your laughing muscles by the Netherlands' best comedian Jofri. Why balls? Why a show that revolves around balls? Last year, director Maurice received the Oscar Carré Trofee from Youp van ’t Hek. Not just because Magic Circus is the last Dutch tent circus to be on tour for a full season. The Netherlands' highest circus award was primarily awarded for his courage and guts to still go on tour with a circus. That he has the balls to brave political and bureaucratic opposition every year to bring people joy, culture and fun.
