Lucie Horsch makes her debut as a pianist in De Doelen this season. This now world-famous recorder player is a great multi-talent, because she previously also presented herself as a singer. Now, surrounded by great musicians such as Liza Ferschtman and Olivier Thiery, she sits behind the grand piano with Vaughan Williams' beautiful Piano Quintet and Schubert's famous Trout Quintet.

Schubert's Trout Quintet was an immediate success. This is mainly due to the compelling fourth movement: a series of variations on Schubert's own song Die Forelle. Because the double bass is responsible for the bass line, Lucie Horsch can shine in the higher register on the piano. Vaughan Williams' Piano Quintet only relatively recently gained a more prominent place in the repertoire, and rightly so: it is a true masterpiece that deserves performance at the highest level.
