Liberty Bell - het zuid land

On the eve of the election results, a prominent politician is stranded with her child in the middle of nowhere. This forced standstill creates space for her thoughts and memories for the first time. How did she get to this point? What is the price of the sacrifices she has had to make and what do her choices mean for her child's upbringing and life?

“I was afraid for a long time.

For the world you created.

For how cruel you made him.”

About the south country

The South Country creates performances for a broad, adult and young audience by explicitly allowing children to question the world of adults as well.

"If you don't remember, ask the kids."

In the press

"Anne-Chris Schulting shines as an unappreciated politician (...) In the direction of Brouwers and Van den Kieboom, her flawless text treatment is combined with a very strong physique." - Theater newspaper

“The unruly relationship between woman and child, both of whom are not valued by the society in which they live, is the beating heart of Liberty Bell.” - Theater newspaper

“It is mainly politicians who are accused of talking a lot and saying little. But that cannot be said of this politician, because sometimes the words that come out of her mouth have the power of sledgehammer blows from which you as a spectator cannot duck.” - Brabant Cultural
