Lezing Miriam Bunnik over Italië
O sole mio and La donna è mobile, singing gondoliers and the operas of Verdi. Italy is music, and music is Italy. How did that happen, Miriam Bunnik wonders. She goes on an investigation and ends up in Arezzo, where a certain Guido, a monk, invented musical notation in the eleventh century. In Florence she visits the modern opera house where she learns more about the origins of opera. She goes to Cremona where she talks to a violin maker about his fellow townsman Stradivarius, to Naples to discover the fascinating history of the conservatory. But she also looks up the famous italo disco artist Ryan Paris in Tor San Lorenzo, takes a tour of the Lucio Dalla museum and is amazed by a folk music festival in Salento. Vivaldi and Volare is a journey through Italy and a discovery of music history!
Musical sequel to the successful Koffiebars en carabinieri by Italy expert Miriam Bunnik.
Miriam Bunnik (1983) became fascinated by Italy during a school trip to Rome. She went on to study Italian language and culture and became a translator and teacher. Together with Mara Schepers she translated Het leugenachtige leven van volwassenen by Elena Ferrante, Schittering by Margaret Mazzantini and countless other books. And even though she lives in the Netherlands, thanks to her Genoese husband Andrea and his family she doesn't have to miss anything of Italy.
