Lancering Caspar Berger. Evenbeeld

During the launch of Caspar Berger. Likewise, Caspar Berger is interviewed by journalist Arjen Ribbens about his art practice. Art historian Joke de Wolf then discusses a number of works based on her analyzes from the book and the designers of Beukers-Scholma talk about the creation of the book design. After the program there is an opportunity to have a drink in the café and to have a book signed.

Caspar Berger. Evenbeeld offers an overview of 25 years of artistic work by one of the most striking Dutch artists of his generation. Frits Scholten, sculpture curator at the Rijksmuseum, highlights the countless references in the sculptures and places Berger's work in an art historical context. Art historian Joke de Wolf describes and analyzes the works of art, while Caspar Berger himself, together with his partner Annick Vroom, provides insight into his thought process and creative working method using numerous images from his own archive. The photography for the publication was provided by Petra and Erik Hesmerg.

Caspar Berger

Visual artist Caspar Berger (Utrecht, 1965) creates art in which current events and the art historical canon play an important role. The self-portrait and his own body are often the starting point for comprehensive themes such as freedom, mortality and political (belief) systems. Berger uses a variety of materials for his images, including bronze, silver, gold, silicone, epoxy, wood and felt, but also video and multimedia or a combination thereof.
