Kinder Wijkatelier: Bio-bouwen met de natuur
Grow your own biobased object! In this workshop, we will be building with biobased materials using household organic waste.
In this workshop, we will explore bio-based building with household organic waste. Over the course of 2 hours, we will learn how kitchen scraps can be a raw material for growing circular objects. We will learn how a fungus uses bio-waste as food to develop its mycelium network and how this collaboration between living organisms creates a circular material.
We will get hands-on to design a circular plant pot, pencil holder, or another object and then set it to grow. You read that right: our objects will grow. Two weeks after the workshop, they will be ready to take home.
Everyone is welcome to join this creative making process where you work playfully with your hands. Children between 4 - 7 years old can achieve the best results when a parent or guardian participates.
Please note! Make sure to register your child separately for each session. You can find the registration links under the relevant events on the programme page.
Participation is free and registration is required. If you choose to purchase a donation ticket, you support Dokhuis and help us keep other events free as well.
The workshops are accessible to children with different language backgrounds and language levels — whether they speak Dutch, another language, or are not yet very proficient with language. We use simple, clear language, show everything step by step, and translate where necessary, so that everyone can participate.
