On Wednesday, October 1st, we close One Love, our two-week celebration of 15 years of BIRD. And we do so with Kay Slice, an artist who perfectly embodies what BIRD has stood for for fifteen years: music without boundaries, culture in motion, and a community that comes together through sound.

With the I Take U Highlife Tour, Kay Slice presents his new album, a contemporary and bold interpretation of one of the most influential musical movements from West Africa. Highlife forms the foundation, but blends effortlessly with hip-hop, jazz, soul, and afrobeat. No nostalgia, but a sound that embraces tradition while simultaneously looking ahead.

Kay Slice is known for his impressive live shows, in which live percussion, Ghanaian grooves, spoken word, and personal stories come together. His music is about identity, cultural pride, representation, and connection. Always with substance, always with rhythm, and always with the energy to get a room moving.

Following the highly acclaimed From Back To Back, Kay Slice demonstrates on I Take U Highlife how his sound has further evolved. Together with his Ghanaian band and producer Anton de Bruin, he built an album in which modern highlife, afrobeat, jazz, soul, and hip-hop naturally blend together. A sound that celebrates the richness of the African diaspora while remaining entirely contemporary.

As the closing night of One Love, this show brings together our celebration of 15 years of BIRD. From September 18 through October 1, we celebrate the music, the people, and the collaborations that have shaped BIRD. Kay Slice closes these special two weeks with a performance that shows where we come from and where we are going.
