John Cooper Clarke

The living legend John Cooper Clarke has always done what he wanted, throwing all norms and etiquettes out the window. John is an English performance poet and comedian who profiled himself as a “punk poet” in the late 1970s. He made music, performed and toured with bands, as a support act or as a guest of honor at their show. He is best known for songs like I Wanna Be Yours and Evidently Chickentown, two absurdist tracks that represent his oeuvre in a very fitting way.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s he released several albums. During that time he performed with punk and post-punk bands such as Sex Pistols, New Order, Joy Division and Buzzcocks. He tackled the world of music with a great sense of humor, a courageous undertaking, as music and comedy are often not the best of friends. Despite this, Clarke knew how to make it work and brought the two together. Now he's back, older but more alive than ever, to take you on a journey through the history of punk and put a smile on your face at the same time.
