Jean Cement - Schwung try-out
For everyone who sometimes wants to resist a world that constantly reinvents itself.
A medieval play that has never been performed before
Sometime in the Middle Ages, an unknown author wrote the tragedy of Jean Cement. As far as is known, this play has never been performed before. Schwung brings it to the stage in its entirety and unchanged. Deep in the woods, Jean Cement leads a routine existence: the same porridge from the same plate, the same work on the same land. Until higher powers choose him, of all people, for something else.
About holding on and letting go
Jean Cement explores the tension between wanting to hold on to the familiar and a world hurtling forward. What do you do when your old primary school is demolished, when clothes no longer fit, when the future pays no heed to your plans? Schwung combines text, acting, and music in a humorous performance about progress, conservatism, and the human tendency to want to understand everything. Schwung is a collective founded by 7 makers who work in varying lineups.
