Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw met Teus Nobel

Teus Nobel is one of the most productive musicians of the moment and in the past five years his albums followed: Journey Of Man (2019), Saudade (2019, awarded an Edison Award), Tanto Amor (2021), Pleasure Is The Measure (2021). , Human First (2023) and After Hours (2023) are rapidly following each other. Nevertheless, he continues to surprise with his versatility, according to de Volkskrant. Nobel has worked with the JOC before; in 2018 he was a guest soloist at the Miles Davis tribute performed in the Concertgebouw. The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw is one of the top big bands in Europe. The orchestra has won multiple Edison Awards and previously collaborated with legends such as Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Joshua Redman. In 2020, the JOC commissioned nine young jazz makers to write compositions for the big band and explore their musical ideas and vision for jazz in a large line-up. This resulted in the album The Jazz Influencers . According to de Volkskrant: “ A fine album with fresh, new repertoire, fine solo work and thunderous ensemble playing. ” The orchestra will play this music, together with Teus Nobel, live in LantarenVenster tonight.
