Jake Xerxes Fussell

Jake Xerxes Fussell, raised in Georgia and now based in North Carolina, has developed into an inspired interpreter of folk songs in the broadest sense of the word. Fussell is often mentioned in the same breath as modern guitar heroes such as William Tyler and Ryley Walker. The American devotes his oeuvre to breathing new life into forgotten folk songs and making them relevant again within a modern lens. This gives Fussell's music a poignant charge: a lived voice that draws new lines between past and present. Outside of that historical context, it sounds incredibly beautiful and moving. Fussell can now count Jeff Tweedy, Will Oldham and Bill Callahan among his biggest fanboys.

On his new album When I'm Called, released in June '24 on the famous Fat Possum label, Fussell returns to his roots, thinking loosely about the passage of time and the succession of unexpected events in life . Fussell had help in creating the new album from Ben Whiteley (The Weather Station), Joe Westerlund (Bon Iver, Califone) and Blake Mills.

This concert only has seats and takes place in Kantine Walhalla (Veerlaan 11) and is organized by Theater Walhalla and Rotown.
