International Dance League
From October 16 to 18, 2026, Theater Rotterdam will be the setting for the International Dance League Festival (IDL). For three days, top international dancers, choreographers, and young talent will present battles, performances, showcases, jams, and club nights. Featuring, among others, a Theater Night, international battles, and the Teenage League final.
New Theater Night
On Friday, IDL opens with the new Theater Night. The evening focuses on creators working from hip-hop, street, and club dance who bring their artistic language to the theater.
American krump dancer Mark 'Brui5er' Sheats presents Modus Vivendi, a physically intense solo work exploring the tension between surviving and truly living. Crime Time presents Is It a Crime?, a compact and experimental work that makes the leap from the hip-hop scene to the theater. The festival deliberately positions both works within a single evening, alongside several other performances that present various forms of dance from hip-hop and street culture in a theatrical context.
The new Showcase Competition will also take place. Through an open call, six to ten short showcases will be selected from choreographers working with hip-hop, street, and club styles. They will present their work to an audience and a professional jury. The winner will receive a performance slot during IDL 2027; the selected makers will also receive feedback and masterclasses.
