World music at its best with flutist Ronald Snijders and duo Casa das Flores.
Flutist Floor Polder and pianist-accordionist Elizabeth Fadel form the virtuoso duo Casa das Flores, known for their unparalleled musical chemistry in which jazz, improvisations and classical influences merge effortlessly. Especially for this show they invite Ronald Snijders, a musical citizen of the world, creative jack-of-all-trades and exceptionally versatile flutist and composer.
Casa das Flores has released a new EP, an ode to the house in Rotterdam where Floor Polder and Elizabeth Fadel lived together and the inspiration for their lively, passionate and spontaneous sound was born. Ronald Snijders was one of the welcome guests at Casa das Flores where he regularly participated in the musical jam sessions.
Snijders, winner of the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize in 2022, has been one of the best-known Surinamese musicians since the 1970s, uniquely incorporating Brazilian music into his own compositions. From a strong love for his Surinamese roots, starting with his father's musical legacy, Snijders has a great curiosity for new developments. The connection with younger musicians is essential to him. He is a generous musician who ensures that other musicians can also shine.
