Green Border

Refugees who try to reach Europe via this route end up in the treacherous forests that form the so-called 'green border' between Belarus and Poland. Belarus is trying to undermine the EU by encouraging these border crossings, while Poland refuses to allow them. And so the refugees end up in a cold, swampy no man's land, without food and medical care. Like pawns in a political game, the lives of activist Julia, border guard Jan and a Syrian family are intertwined.

Despite a hate campaign from the populist government, Agnieszka Holland's Green Border became a great success in Poland with both the public and the press. During the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024, Green Border captured the hearts of the audience and was number 1 in the audience poll for almost the entire festival, after which he ultimately won the coveted Audience Award.
