Musical joy, heartbreak and everything in between!
Hailing from the harmonious hills of Scotland and the cultural metropolis of Melbourne in Australia comes the trio Good Guy Hank. At the Ramblin Roots festival in Utrecht they hit like a bomb! Within an hour all the CDs and T-shirts they brought were sold out. That tasted like more; so to speak, they did it: they arranged their own tour in the Netherlands, so soon their Americana sounds will also resound through the hall of Walhalla here.
If you're wondering who that good guy Hank is: that's of course the legendary and much too young deceased country singer Hank Williams. He was the inspiration for both the band name and the sound of the trio. But the real connoisseur can also detect influences from Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Carter Family, Gram Parsons, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.
The trio consists of Theo Barnard (vocals and guitar, from the Scottish bluegrass band Wire & Wool), Pepita Emmerichs (vocals, fiddler and mandolin, from the Australian band Oh Pep) and Donny McElligott (guitar and banjo, from the Scottish Americana band The New Madrids). Together they bring wonderfully melancholic catchy songs and rousing music that you can't sit still to.
