Global Music Nights: four evenings full of music with established names and new talent. Expect a mix of traditional and contemporary sounds. Featuring, among others, Xaloq from Valencia and the Mexican duo FUENSANTA & Diego Cerroblanco.

About Global Music Nights

Global Music Nights presents a series of double concerts. Here, traditions and folklore meet new perspectives. Each evening features an established name alongside a promising emerging act. This creates two different styles and unique musical stories. You will discover four evenings full of music with well-known names and new talent.

Xaloq

Xaloq brings the music of Valencia to Rotterdam and gives it a new twist. The quintet combines Valencian folk music with jazz, free improvisation, and Mediterranean sounds. The group consists of Pau Jordà (saxophone & vocals), Annabella Raiona (vocals & viola), Fran Acàmer (piano), Barış Ofluoğlu (double bass), and Lucas Zegrí (drums). They provide an adventurous and energetic sound. On their debut album, Quan veja que ja no cante, Xaloq takes you through the musical landscape of the País Valencià. They tell stories about loss, revolution, and memory. This is a meeting between Valencian roots and the open, international music scene of Rotterdam.

Fuensanta & Diego Cerroblanco

Fuensanta and Diego Cerroblanco both come from Veracruz, Mexico. They have a great love for the rich musical traditions from this region. In this duo concert, Fuensanta and Diego showcase Mexican music. Think of boleros, son jarocho, and original compositions. This music is specially arranged for traditional Mexican instruments.

Fuensanta is a singer, double bassist, composer, and improviser. Her music mixes simple, symbolist, and surrealist poetry with influences from traditional, experimental, contemporary, and popular music. She lives and works in Amsterdam. Diego Cerroblanco is a Mexican musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser. He lives in Veracruz. He explores the traditional guitarrón and leona from Veracruz. He connects Mexican traditions such as mariachi, son jalisciense, and son jarocho with new musical styles.
