Glazuur de stad! Ontwerp je eigen geveltegel

Join Urban Glaze in this hands-on workshop and sculpt your own facade tile, which will be glazed with a 'circular glaze' made from Rotterdam dredged material.

The city as a source of inspiration

Explore how our urban environment can be a source of new materials. Urban Glaze investigates the reuse of dredged material from Rotterdam. In doing so, they reduce waste and transform it into usable glaze for the city.

Design your own facade tile

Take part in a special workshop by Urban Glaze , part of the Landscape Crafting exhibition at OMI. You will learn how to make a circular glaze from urban waste. Then, you will get to work yourself. Sculpt your own façade tile and give it a unique, contemporary ornament.

Shaping and baking process

Inspired by the shapes and textures of Rotterdam, you scratch or sculpt your own story in clay. Rink and Eva guide you step by step. After the workshop, the tiles are glazed with an Urban Glaze and fired. No prior experience with ceramics is necessary.

Exhibition and pick-up

Your designed tiles will receive a unique finish. They will then be presented at the closing Landscape Crafting event at OMI. You can pick up your tile there. Bring your own inspiration, such as photos or sketches of facades or ornaments from the city.
