Gery Mendes

Gery Mendes is a renaissance man with a considerable track record who effortlessly maneuvers between different disciplines. MC, musician and theater maker Gery Mendes gives a one-off, cinematic music concert: A Tale of Kriolo Times. Mendes combines music, storytelling, movement and film in a show inspired by his Cape Verdean roots, with new songs and a unique sound clash of traditional Cape Verdean music styles and hip hop.

Before the concert, the closing of the Casa di Cabral exhibition will take place in the HipHopHuis, with the screening of the film In Search of Borboletas by Bouba Dola and Mendes, a documentary about Mendes' journey of discovery to his cultural roots. This performance is a tribute to the Cape Verdean community and a preview of Mendes' next album.
