Gabriel Rios well known from the hit 'Broad Daylight'

Gabriel Ríos was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Belgium at the age of 17 to study painting at the Luca School of Arts in Ghent. After playing in several bands and recording a string of singles, he started making a name for himself in 2003 with his first album Ghostboy.

By collaborating with Jo Bogaert (Technotronic), jazz pianist Jef Neve, Kobe Proesmans (The Colorist Orchestra) and multi-instrumentalist/producer Ruben Samama, Ríos has a series of eclectic albums to his name.

His musical journey has taken him from idiosyncratic Latin/Pop crooner (Ghostboy) to introspective singer-songwriter (This Marauder's Midnight). Most recently, his album Flore brought a collection of reinvented Latin classics plus a handful of original songs, including a collaboration with Devendra Banhart.

Ríos delves further into the gothic Caribbean sound that characterized Flore and his latest album Playa negra contains mainly original material in Spanish. On this album, old son montunos alternate with obscure elements from American and European popular music in a idiosyncratic mix.
