Fototentoonstelling in bushokjes: Toen geluk nog heel gewoon was

At twenty bus stops along line 40 between Rotterdam and Delft, photographer and architect Christopher Clarkson presents his photo series on the contemporary landscape and the history of the Schie.

Then and Now Once one of the most important transport and trade routes in the Netherlands, the road from Delft to Rotterdam via the Schie lies quiet today. The Schie’s former crucial function as a connection between the two major trading cities has since been replaced by the construction of the A13 motorway and the railway. Clarkson focuses his camera on the visible traces of this past – from polders to infrastructure and industry. Opening and Route The exhibition poses the question of why happiness is so easily portrayed as something of the past, and invites visitors to rediscover the ordinary and self-evident happiness of the present. Using twenty black-and-white photographs, combined with archival material and an explanatory text, the visitor is guided literally and figuratively through the landscape along a route of twenty bus stops.
