LantarenVenster presents a unique cultural evening in LCC Romeynshof with the screening of the film Mother Suriname and a special concert by the acclaimed singer Denise Jannah. Expect a beautiful documentary with impressive images, delicious Surinamese food and a swinging concert with Denise Jannah. Soulful, with a twist of jazz and the bounce of the blues! Documentary Mother Suriname Mother Suriname is a moving documentary by writer Tessa Leuwsha, who uses unique archive material to tell the life story inspired by her grandmother Fansi. This life story covers the period from the abolition of slavery in 1863 to Surinamese independence in 1975. In the film, singer Denise brings Fansi to life with her voice.
