Festen 1998

The first film made according to the Dogma 95 principles, a film association founded by Vinterberg himself, together with colleague Lars von Trier.

During a party to celebrate the father of the house's sixtieth birthday, his son reveals a shocking secret that completely destroys the façade of a seemingly perfect family. Festen won the Jury Prize at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival and is still considered a masterpiece of modern cinema. Thomas Vinterberg's Festen is the first film made according to the Dogma 95 principles. With its raw aesthetics and emotional power, Festen shows exactly what makes Dogma 95 so special.

Dogma 95

Discover the radical world of Dogme 95, a groundbreaking film movement that turned the rules of traditional cinema upside down. Dogme 95 is a film manifesto drawn up in 1995 by Danish filmmakers Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg. The aim was to return to a pure form of filmmaking, without artificial interventions or technical tricks. They set out ten strict rules with which they challenged conventional cinema and protested the commercial and technical excess of independent film.
