Everybody loves Touda

The film follows Touda, a free-spirited artist who, as a shikhat, shares her stories and emotions through traditional Moroccan song and dance. Despite scorn and opposition, she continues to dream of a better future and decides to try her luck in Casablanca. Director Nabil Ayouch and Maryam Touzani present a powerful portrait of a woman who chooses her own path, with an impressive lead performance by Nisrin Erradi. The film premiered at Cannes and was Morocco’s entry for the Oscars.
