Ernst de Corte

Jules de Corte (1924 – 1996) was a musician, lyricist and singer. So to speak: a singer-songwriter of his time. He became known to the general public through songs such as Ik Zou Wel Eens Wanten Weten and De Vogels.

Son Ernst de Corte had a difficult relationship with his father. He long resented him for abandoning his family. Just as he and his father had started talking again, Jules de Corte became ill and died.

Ernst was left with many questions he still had for his father.

However, he has now found the answer: in the thousands of texts that his father wrote.

“It's a shame to let those songs gather dust,” says Ernst. “If you're not careful, Jules' repertoire will be forgotten and disappear.” That is why Ernst performs in the country to bring his father's work back to the public. And especially songs that also fit into this time.

Ernst is accompanied by pianist Izak Boom and bassist Pieter Althuis.
