Eric Alblas Memorial Clean-up & Onthulling standbeeld

Museum Rotterdam presents a special new acquisition: a statue of Eric Alblas (1960-2023), better known as 'The laughing gas man of Rotterdam'. Artist André Pielage created a sculpture in which Eric, seated in his mobility scooter, is completely constructed from thousands of laughing gas cartridges that Eric collected during his daily rounds. The statue is a tribute to a Rotterdammer who dedicated himself to a cleaner city. The unveiling will take place on 24 May, exactly two years after his death, and is preceded by the annual Eric Alblas Memorial Cleanup organised by Zwerfie Rotterdam. The artwork can be seen as a temporary presentation in Museum Rotterdam '40 – '45 NU at the Coolhaven until September.
