Een bijzondere avond met Marike Jager

On Saturday, September 26, Marike Jager invites you to the release of her new EP, The Girl Who Turned into a Bed. Marike takes you behind the scenes of her new music. She talks about the creation of the songs, her inspiration from the world of filmmaker Tim Burton, and the handmade music box on which many of the tracks originated. She plays the new songs live, as well as favorites from her repertoire. She also brings fresh copies of the EP (vinyl/CD) to sign personally afterwards.

She went on a world tour with her family, visiting places where she once learned to play guitar as a backpacker. And now she is back on stage.

About Marike Jager

Marike Jager is one of the Netherlands' most beloved singer-songwriters: idiosyncratic, enchanting, and full of stories. Live, she effortlessly takes her audience along. She is personal, funny, and disarming. Inspired by artists such as The Beatles, Fiona Apple, and the fantasy world of Tim Burton, she writes her songs mostly on guitar, but also on piano and a handmade music box. You can hear the adventure reflected in her songs, which move rhythmically and playfully through her musical universe.

Marike Jager was nominated for an Edison four times, the Lowlands festival took her to heart, and she won the Grote Prijs van Nederland. She played guitar in a Sam Smith video, and Grammy winner Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow, Crowded House) mixed her albums. She performed with hip-hop dancer Shailesh Bahoran for 'Nederlandse Dansdagen', explored the raw edges with the experimental duo 'M ft. M' (with drummer Martijn Bosman), and wrote an enchanting duet with Canadian songwriter Ron Sexsmith.
