In Ekonan di antes i awor (Echoes from Then and Now), filmmaker Rovendley Welvaart searches for the voice of the youth of Curaçao, with the aim of conducting a dialogue about historical awareness and cultural identity.

The documentary became the culmination of intensive conversations with young people from different neighborhoods of Curaçao: Maripampoen, Saliña, Otrobanda, Ser'i Fortuna and Bandabou, on topics related to the Curaçaoan identity. The young people spoke freely about topics such as the history of slavery, the Papiamentu language, cultural identity, natural hair and old customs, rituals and traditions.
