The Mother Monologues is a powerful and compelling performance about motherhood in all its forms, full of self-mockery, vulnerability and fighting spirit. In the old Luxor Theater, five actresses – including Claudia de Breij and Lucretia van der Vloot – bring a series of twelve sharp, funny and moving monologues. Under the direction of Malou Gorter, they take the audience into the harsh reality of being a mother, or not. Themes such as guilt, relationship problems, fertility and parenthood are discussed openly and with humor. The performance breaks taboos and offers space for recognition for everyone who has ever struggled with these questions. The result is a liberating, honest theater experience for mothers, non-mothers and everyone outside of it.
