Composer's Day puts Rotterdam composers in the spotlight. Every year, young, talented Rotterdam composers write new musical pieces in collaboration with Codarts. An expert jury selects the best compositions. Discover these new works in the atmospheric foyer of the Main Hall of De Doelen. The acoustics of this venue ensure an overwhelming sound experience. Rolf Verbeek: Conductor and Artistic Director

Rolf Verbeek, a respected guest conductor, works regularly with 'Camerata RCO', which consists of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He is also artistic director of Kamerorkest Somer, an ensemble of young, professional symphony musicians. Under his direction, 'Camerata RCO' has released two CDs featuring works by Anton Bruckner, Alban Berg, and Gustav Mahler. Verbeek served as assistant conductor alongside the celebrated Barbara Hannigan in the 'Equilibrium Young Artists' program.

Recognition and International Cooperation

In 2022, Rolf Verbeek received the prestigious Kersjes Prize . This prize recognizes his clear and communicative way of working, which leads to harmonious collaboration with orchestra members. He has conducted various international orchestras, such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. He also works extensively in the Netherlands with orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, including family performances with musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
