Cyrille Aimée

Cyrille Aimée returns to LantarenVenster with the beautiful music from her brand new album à Fleur de Peau! The musical life story of the French singer is somewhat reminiscent of a film. As a young girl, Cyrille sneaked out unnoticed through her bedroom window to experience the annual Django Reinhardt Festival in her hometown of Samois-sur-Seine. She was captivated by the gipsy jazz she heard and immersed herself in the music of the legendary guitarist. Later she was mainly influenced by American jazz, but the sounds of the Sinti and Roma had permanently embedded themselves in the musical soul of the French singer. After her first place in the vocal category of the prestigious competition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Aimée left for the United States, where she is becoming a star. The New York Times called her voice "sweet and girlish, but controlled with the precision of a sniper." The Wall Street Journal called her 'one the most promising jazz singers of her generation.' A trip to Costa Rica was the inspiration for her latest album à Fleur de Peau. For the recordings she joined forces with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jake Sherman, who has already collaborated with diverse musicians such as Bilal, Meshell Ndegeocello and Melanie Charles.
