Christian Sands Trio

At the age of twelve he released his first album and as a teenager he played with greats such as Billy Taylor, Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock. He has now immersed himself in many styles, from swing and classical to funk and hip hop. Sands has toured the world with his own band in recent years and the American's virtuoso fingers can be heard on albums by Gregory Porter and Christian McBride, among others. The latter plays an important role in the career of the pianist from New Haven, Connecticut, because since he graduated from the Manhattan School of Music, the famous bassist has been like a musical father to him. Christian has been part of McBride's bands for many years, such as Inside Straight and the Christian McBride Trio. Sands also collaborated with Esperanza Spalding. A few years ago, the leading jazz magazine Downbeat included Christian Sands in the Downbeat 25 For The Future, the list of artists with whom jazz is in good hands in the future. Sands, who has now released ten albums and has received several Grammy nominations, distinguishes himself by his seductive compositions in combination with a fluid technique and perfect timing. Since his album Be Water, he has drawn on the life lessons of martial arts legend Bruce Lee: be flexible like water and you can handle anything. So look forward to a balanced set from this young piano grandmaster with new music from a new album, which will be released in the spring of 2024 on the Mack Avenue label.
