Chris Cheek, Rembrandt Frerichs, Mark Haanstra & Jorge Rossy
Four top musicians tour the Netherlands with their own work full of harmony and improvisation. Chris Cheek and Jorge Rossy reunite, while Rembrandt Frerichs plays the Fender Rhodes and Moog. Deep grooves guaranteed by Mark Haansta on bass!
After a successful tour in 2024, four leading musicians will tour the Netherlands next season: Chris Cheek on saxophone, Rembrandt Frerichs on Rhodes and Moog, Mark Haanstra on bass and Jorge Rossy on drums.
American saxophonist Chris Cheek is known for his lyrical and expressive playing, with which he previously collaborated with greats such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Bill Frisell. Spanish jazz drummer, pianist and vibraphonist Jorge Rossy, known for his work with the Brad Mehldau Trio, has known Cheek since their studies at Berklee College of Music in the late 80s. Since Chris' debut album I Wish I Knew, they have played together on many albums. Their last joint performances in the Netherlands and Belgium were in 1995.
This supergroup plays exclusively their own work tonight, full of harmony, color and space for improvisation. Rembrandt Frerichs chooses the swinging sounds of the Fender Rhodes and Moog this time. Mark Haanstra on bass guarantees deep grooves.
