Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) formerly Christian Scott

“Jazz's young style God”, as JazzTimes described him, returns to LantarenVenster! Under his birth name Christian Scott, he reached a large audience with innovative music. Under his honorary title Chief Adjuah, he makes the link between contemporary beats and indigenous rhythms from America, West Africa and the Caribbean. With beautifully designed instruments such as the Adjuah Trumpet, Chief Adjuah's Bow and Sirenette, he achieves a sound that is at times reminiscent of Miles Davis.

Chief This was not limited to the culture of the Mardi Gras from his own city, music from names as diverse as Miles Davis, Bob Dylan and Radiohead also found a place in Scott's musical brain. In addition, he is a politically committed musician who does not shy away from current political themes in his music. He has collaborated with Prince, Jill Scott and Thom Yorke, Mos Def, Boogie and Vic Mensa.

Live, Chief Adjuah is a sensation. He whispers and shouts through his trumpet and makes you dance and think. Scott won two Edisons, a Paul Acket Award, and was nominated five times for a Grammy.
