Bio
Dr. Ir. Michaël Peeters MRe (TU-Delft) is an assistant professor and researcher specialized in sustainable finance and smart building technologies, with a focus on the link to valuation. With a PhD in Engineering Management from the University of Antwerp and a technical background in microelectronics, his academic focus lies at the intersection of sustainability, technology and finance. He conducts research on sustainable finance, sustainability reporting and links with AI, IoT and WEB3 applications. Michaël also has experience in econophysics and the impact of the “As A Service” business model on real estate investments.
Karmijn van den Berg (Policy Advisor Sustainability Municipality of Rotterdam) Studied landscape architecture at Wageningen University followed by a career at the Municipality of Rotterdam in various areas of sustainability. Was involved in the first transition to gas-free for an existing district and coordinated the implementation of climate adaptation in urban areas. She saw a growing need for sustainable urban development and initiated the Sustainable Urban Development program and has been program manager for 5 years. Karmijn developed a quick scan for sustainability in Rotterdam developments and is involved as sustainability manager in large-scale projects such as Rijnhaven.
Elise van Herwaarden (ESG Manager INREV, the trade association for European real estate funds) As ESG Manager at INREV, Elise van Herwaarden supports the European unlisted real estate investment sector in navigating the changing sustainability landscape. From INREV’s headquarters in Amsterdam, she works closely with members to clarify ESG best practices, develop ambitious sustainability targets and adapt to regulatory developments such as the EU Taxonomy. With a background in architecture, Elise combines strategic insight with practical solutions for sustainable real estate. Prior to joining INREV, she was Sustainability Manager at asr real estate and ESG Strategy & Reporting consultant at Longevity Partners.
Dennis Franken (Sustainability Advisor Stebru, developer-builder region Rotterdam) Graduated from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, including a graduation trajectory at Stebru. Dennis is responsible for the sustainable transition of Stebru to Paris Proof projects. Raising awareness by bridging the global context via EU taxonomy and other regulations and incentives to implementing concrete actions and solutions in the projects and practices of the developer-builder.
