Boekpresentatie De Feyenoordfamilie door Dave Geensen

This afternoon Dave presents his book The Feyenoord Family - camaraderie, club love and passion.

There is nothing that keeps people in Rotterdam and the surrounding area so busy as the performance of Feyenoord. But it is not only the sporting achievements, but also the people who make the club what it is. You will find a diverse group of people in the stands, in the dressing room and in the boardroom. From all walks of life and from all over the world. Behind this colorful group are special stories about camaraderie, club love and passion.

As befits a worthy family epic, The Feyenoord Family also experiences memorable moments, but there are also disappointments and complicated relationships. And there is something that drives and binds them: a deep emotional commitment to their club and an insatiable hunger for new success. Using match visits from the 2023-'24 season at home and abroad as a basis, author Dave Geensen strings together tasty anecdotes and entertaining facts. The former editor of Hand in Hand and creator of the Rijnmond supporters podcast Geluid van Zuid has been coming to De Kuip as a season ticket holder for over thirty years and went looking for special stories. The heroes and events of the past and present are connected using interviews and historical material. This is how Geensen also discovered that history seems to keep repeating itself at Feyenoord...

The book features former players such as Pierre van Hooijdonk, Michiel Kramer, John de Wolf, Ulrich van Gobbel, Ruud Heus and Willem van Hanegem. And well-known and unknown supporters speak with great enthusiasm about their club and share their best experiences. Former club doctor Casper van Eijck looks back on his twelve turbulent years in De Kuip. Terminally ill businessman Dennis de Roo is a committed sponsor and reveals himself in a penetrating conversation. Former chairman Jorien van den Herik was once the savior of the almost bankrupt Feyenoord, but was chased out of the stadium with tar and feathers. In a rare media appearance, Van den Herik does not mince his words. And child of the club Giovanni van Bronkchorst also talks in a candid interview about his time as a player and trainer at Feyenoord. But also about the social mission in which he is committed to a better future for children who are not already 3-0 ahead at birth. Part of the proceeds from the book goes to the SV GIO foundation.
