On Friday 9 May, author Marte Jongbloed will present her latest book 1300 Bombs in 13 Minutes, the first children's book about the Rotterdam bombing in 1940.

In this gripping story, set during the bombing of Rotterdam, we follow Joop, a thirteen-year-old boy who experiences the bombing of his city. The book tells the impact of this tragic event in a compelling way, especially for a young audience.

Marte Jongbloed, known for her previous youth novels Gevangen in de stad and Gevaarlijk water, will be present at the book launch to tell more about her work and the writing process. The book will also be for sale during the launch.

About 1300 Bombs in 13 Minutes: Joop lives in Rotterdam and has just turned thirteen. When the German troops invade the city, it does not yet feel like war. But on May 14, the air raid siren sounds and everything changes. While Joop tries to warn his brother Anton, the bombardment falls. In thirteen minutes, Rotterdam turns into a sea of fire. Joop survives the bombardment, but his house has disappeared. In the devastated city, he tries to save what he can.
