BIRDfest 2024

Under the theme 'Celebrate the Culture', the festival on November 1 and 2 promises to be a celebration of music and culture that brings together old legends and new talents at the iconic locations Annabel, BIRD and MONO.

We are very proud to announce the performance of Mulatu Astatke, the pioneer of Ethio-jazz. With his unique blend of traditional Ethiopian music, jazz and Latin influences, Astatke will hypnotize the audience and take them on a musical journey through his fascinating world of sounds and rhythms. Carista, the dynamic Utrecht DJ with Surinamese roots, brings her characteristic style of house, soul and techno to the festival. Her energetic sets are a guarantee for an unforgettable dance experience that sets the night on fire. In addition, Moor Mother, the American poet and musician, will present her powerful and emotional mix of spoken word, free jazz and noise. Her performances are deep and compelling, highlighting important social and political themes. The soulful sounds of Thee Sinseers bring a modern twist to classic soul. This band is known for their authentic sound and their ability to touch the audience with timeless melodies.

Emerging artists such as Rolrolrol, corto.alto and August Charles bring a breath of fresh air to the festival. Rolrolrol, the new project from Jameszoo and Niels Broos, surprises with their experimental beats, while corto.alto pushes the boundaries with its fusion of electronic and acoustic music. August Charles performs his soulful voice and penetrating lyrics, with which he knows how to touch the audience.
