BIG TALK met Martin Koolhoven

During the first, more than sold out, edition of BIG TALK, Zeikschrift phenomenon Madeleijn van den Nieuwenhuizen took us into the theme of entrepreneurship vs. emancipation. Together with the audience, she repeatedly brought the major issues surrounding emancipation to the here and now. You can watch the recap of this beautiful evening at Het Industriegebouw in this aftermovie.

We jump from emancipation in entrepreneurship to entrepreneurship in the picture, because for our second BIG TALK we have none other than one of the Netherlands' most famous filmmakers as our guest. Director and screenwriter Martin Koolhoven (1969) has won 16 golden calves and a multitude of international film awards. He directed, among other things, the Dutch classic Het Schnitzelparadijs (2005), made a splash with his film adaptation of the book Krijgswinter (2008) and made his international breakthrough with his western thriller Brimstone (2016).

In addition to his work in the film industry, he is also known for his extensive knowledge of cinema. For the VPRO, Martin charismatically presented the program De Kijk van Koolhoven, three seasons of which have now been published (for anyone who has not yet seen it: an absolute must watch). He also regularly organizes screenings with his film club under the name De Keuze van Koolhoven and on Wednesday 5 June we have the honor to welcome Martin to Het Industriegebouw for something similar!

With his never-ending enthusiasm, he takes us into a talk about how the theme of entrepreneurship has been depicted in cinema over the years. In a series of surprising example films, storytelling, technology, camera tricks and other smart tools are explained and explained by Martin. Lots of great things await you that evening, so buy a ticket quickly via the ticket shop.
