Baaard

Baaard is a visual and humorous performance about doubt for ages 4+.

We always want an answer to all questions. But isn't it sometimes fun and exciting to doubt? After all, the world is a strange place. You've just learned that birds have wings to fly, and it turns out that there are also birds that can't fly. Life sometimes seems like a game in which the rules are constantly changing. How do you find your way in that? Confusion sows doubt, but also encourages you to invent, create and have fun.

Baaard is an ode to searching and discovering, about the fantasy that arises when not everything is clear yet.

In Baaard, bearded people move through all sorts of recognizable and illogical situations. An ever-growing beard on stage opens up worlds that are constantly changing. Just when the bearded people think they understand the world around them, everything is turned upside down and they have to start all over again. Curious, they travel through all sorts of colorful, sometimes incomprehensible, but always fascinating beard worlds.

Hipsters, lumberjacks, wizards, Santa Claus, the bearded lady and pirates: Baaard is a wild beard parade of archetypes, where anything goes. A textless performance that plays on the wonder and curiosity of four-plussers about what is behind those beards.

The performance Baaard is made by Milan Boele van Hensbroek, who previously made Blablablaf with STIP, a philosophical, theatrical installation in which children can share their thoughts with a dog. Milan and Calle did research for the performance Baaard in the FRIS trajectory of the Maaspodium.
