Arthur Erickson's Dyde House
With an introduction by Burton Hamfelt. What Bakema meant to Dutch architecture, Arthur Erickson meant to Canadian architecture. Erickson designed many university, office, government buildings and museums. On the eve of his long career, he designed a small country house that remained secret for a long time: The Dyde House. Characteristic of Ericksson's work is that he blurs the boundaries between inside and outside. Enthusiasts therefore consider his work as 'land art' or landscape architecture. Although much smaller than the rest of his work, the country house contains all his design principles, which can be seen in his later and large-scale projects.
