Architectonen

Strictly speaking, every composition is a building in itself. Or, in the words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: "Music is liquid architecture, architecture is solidified music." Composers have been inspired by the buildings in which their music was performed to create the structure of their works. In the coming years, we want to further investigate the stimulating relationship between architecture and music in Rotterdam, the city of architecture. In this programme, we will focus on double choirs, such as those that emerged in the San Marco in Venice, and we will let you experience that where architecture and choral singing meet, the mind expands.
