Six-year-old Cléo grows up in Paris. Since her birth, she has been raised by the Cape Verdean Gloria, while her single father is rarely home. Cléo and Gloria are inseparable. Until Gloria receives a call from her family and she urgently has to return home to take care of her own children. When Cléo is allowed to spend the summer with Gloria in Cape Verde, these months form their last memories together.

Louise, who is actually 8, plays like a dream and the bond she has with nanny Gloria is beautifully depicted. Moreover, you immediately feel like going on holiday to Cape Verde.

Àma Gloria is the solo directorial debut of Marie Amachoukeli, who previously won the Camera d'Or for Party Girl with co-directors Claire Burger and Samuel Theis. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as the opening film of the La Semaine de la Critique section.
