Ontdek je Roots - Caraïbische voorouders

Who am I, where do my ancestors come from? What have they experienced, what were their lives like? Many people ask themselves these kinds of questions, but it is quite a job to find out how your family tree works. During this workshop series by Rotterdam Library and the CBG|Center for Family History, we will help you research your family history. The workshop is aimed at people with roots in the former Netherlands Antilles (ABC and SSS islands).

It's important to start by asking questions of your older relatives. Because a lot of information from the past 100 years is still protected due to privacy legislation, you will have to bridge those years. You can search approximately from your great-grandparents in various online databases. Which source should you go to, what can you find there and how do you best search? All these types of questions will be answered per theme in the series of workshops that the CBG|Center for Family History will give.

Former Netherlands Antilles (ABC and SSS islands)

In this workshop we focus on sources for family history research in the former Netherlands Antilles (ABC and SSS islands). Where should you look and what resources are available if your ancestors are from this region? In this workshop, our expert will provide practical tips for your research and explain where you can find these sources (online). Finding ancestors who were enslaved is also discussed in this workshop.
